More than two years had passed since Amanda and I watched Larry finish his 4,200 bicycle journey at the Atlantic Ocean - and in those two years, Amanda and I have been pouring everything into writing and editing and piecing together a story that, we hope, best expresses what it means to leave everything behind.

Last May - after endless storyboarding and re-writing and editing the sequences dealing with the road - I took a flight from Detroit to Reno, there I met Amanda who had flown in from Los Angeles and later that same afternoon, Karen Abad would need us after driving from near San Francisco. The three of us traveled to meet with Larry, spending 10 days filming some of the most important pieces of FToMfilm.com- pieces that help frame Larry’s experience as something much deeper than just a summer bicycle trip.

These 10 days were able to move beyond just the planning stages because 103 amazing people supported an $8,000 kickstarter campaign that ended in late November. Which helped us, not only travel to Northern California, but also over the last 9 months bring FToM to its near-final stages of post-production.

Amanda and I are on schedule to complete the first full edit of FToM by December of this year, then releasing the finished feature-length film in March and April under a very important creative-commons license: CC BY-SA.

Over the next several months we will also be editing and releasing the last four parts of our making-of series, as well as building and tracking demand for the film using open-indie.

Our momentum during the next several months hinges heavily on the success of this kickstarter campaign - the film’s resources are near exhausted and to stay on target for an April release, we need a tremendous amount of support in reaching this project’s most ambitious goal yet.

The two of us could not be more anxious and excited in being just several months out from a film we’ve committed more than six years to sharing.

If you have ever supported this project in the past, please note that what we need most over the next several months of build-up is help reaching out to new people. And if you are new the FToM, please take a moment to watch our short teasers, or our making-of series. If you believe in what Amanda and I are trying to say, your support would mean the world to us.
