Project Introduction

Hello. My name is Mike Ambs. Over the last several years, Amanda Walker and I have been working independently on a feature length documentary, titled For Thousands of Miles; watching it grow from just an idea, to a dream, slowly taking form into pre-production, and now pushing through the last stages of post-production.

During the summer of 2007, after years of struggling to get the project off the ground, we met and filmed Larry McKurtis as he took an amazing and beautiful 4,200 mile bicycle trip from Anacortes, Washington to Bar Harbor, Maine.

So, here are some short-cuts to catching up on where we’ve come from in this project: You can learn a lot about us and the film by watching our first five episodes here.

Here is a short synopsis about the feature length film. If you’d like to watch our
post-production video updates, you can do so here.

We post often about the experience of making our first film on our production blog, and have even put a great deal of time and energy into telling the story of our 64 days on the road during filming.

Well, that should get you started. We always love hearing from new people - you can introduce yourself in an email or join the discussion on twitter. We honestly could not have gotten to where we are today if it weren’t for everyone’s amazing support.

Thank you for reading.
